NURS 6003 Academic Success and Professional Development Plan Part 3: Research Analysis – Step-by-Step Guide

The first step before starting to write the NURS 6003 Academic Success and Professional Development Plan Part 3: Research Analysis, it is essential to understand the requirements of the assignment. The first step is to read the assignment prompt carefully to identify the topic, the length and format requirements. You should go through the rubric provided so that you can understand what is needed to score the maximum points for each part of the assignment.

It is also important to identify the audience of the paper and its purpose so that it can help you determine the tone and style to use throughout. You can then create a timeline to help you complete each stage of the paper, such as conducting research, writing the paper, and revising it to avoid last-minute stress before the deadline. After identifying the formatting style to be applied to the paper, such as APA, you should review its use, such as writing citations and referencing the resources used. You should also review how to format the title page and the headings in the paper.

How to Research and Prepare for NURS 6003 Academic Success and Professional Development Plan Part 3: Research Analysis

The next step in preparing for your paper is to conduct research and identify the best sources to use to support your arguments. Identify the list of keywords from your topic using different combinations. The first step is to visit the university library and search through its database using the important keywords related to your topic. You can also find books, peer-reviewed articles, and credible sources for your topic from PubMed, JSTOR, ScienceDirect, SpringerLink, and Google Scholar. Ensure that you select the references that have been published in the last words and go through each to check for credibility. Ensure that you obtain the references in the required format, for example, in APA, so that you can save time when creating the final reference list.

You can also group the references according to their themes that align with the outline of the paper. Go through each reference for its content and summarize the key concepts, arguments and findings for each source. You can write down your reflections on how each reference connects to the topic you are researching about. After the above steps, you can develop a strong thesis that is clear, concise and arguable. Next you should create a detailed outline of the paper so that it can help you to create headings and subheadings to be used in the paper. Ensure that you plan what point will go into each paragraph.

How to Write the Introduction for NURS 6003 Academic Success and Professional Development Plan Part 3: Research Analysis

The introduction of the paper is the most crucial part as it helps to provide the context of your work, and will determine if the reader will be interested to read through to the end. You should start with a hook, which will help capture the reader’s attention. You should contextualize the topic by offering the reader a concise overview of the topic you are writing about so that they may understand its importance. You should state what you aim to achieve with the paper. The last part of the introduction should be your thesis statement, which provides the main argument of the paper.

How to Write the Body for NURS 6003 Academic Success and Professional Development Plan Part 3: Research Analysis

The body of the paper helps you to present your arguments and evidence to support your claims. You can use headings and subheadings developed in the paper’s outline to guide you on how to organize the body. Start each paragraph with a topic sentence to help the reader know what point you will be discussing in that paragraph. Support your claims using the evidence conducted from the research, ensure that you cite each source properly using in-text citations. You should analyze the evidence presented and explain its significance and how it connects to the thesis statement. You should maintain a logical flow between each paragraph by using transition words and a flow of ideas.

How to Write the In-text Citations for NURS 6003 Academic Success and Professional Development Plan Part 3: Research Analysis

In-text citations help the reader to give credit to the authors of the references they have used in their works. All ideas that have been borrowed from references, any statistics and direct quotes must be referenced properly. The name and date of publication of the paper should be included when writing an in-text citation. For example, in APA, after stating the information, you can put an in-text citation after the end of the sentence, such as (Smith, 2021). If you are quoting directly from a source, include the page number in the citation, for example (Smith, 2021, p. 15). Remember to also include a corresponding reference list at the end of your paper that provides full details of each source cited in your text. An example paragraph highlighting the use of in-text citations is as below:

The integration of technology in nursing practice has significantly transformed patient care and improved health outcomes. According to Smith (2021), the use of electronic health records (EHRs) has streamlined communication among healthcare providers, allowing for more coordinated and efficient care delivery. Furthermore, Johnson and Brown (2020) highlight that telehealth services have expanded access to care, particularly for patients in rural areas, thereby reducing barriers to treatment.

How to Write the Conclusion for NURS 6003 Academic Success and Professional Development Plan Part 3: Research Analysis

When writing the conclusion of the paper, start by restarting your thesis, which helps remind the reader what your paper is about. Summarize the key points of the paper, by restating them. Discuss the implications of your findings and your arguments. End with a call to action that leaves a lasting impact on the reader or recommendations.

How to Format the Reference List for NURS 6003 Academic Success and Professional Development Plan Part 3: Research Analysis

The reference helps provide the reader with the complete details of the sources you cited in the paper. The reference list should start with the title “References” on a new page. It should be aligned center and bolded, in sentence sentence care. The references should be organized in an ascending order alphabetically and each should have a hanging indent. If a source has no author, it should be alphabetized by the title of the work, ignoring any initial articles such as “A,” “An,” or “The.” If you have multiple works by the same author, list them in chronological order, starting with the earliest publication.

Each reference entry should include specific elements depending on the type of source. For books, include the author’s last name, first initial, publication year in parentheses, the title of the book in italics, the edition (if applicable), and the publisher’s name. For journal articles, include the author’s last name, first initial, publication year in parentheses, the title of the article (not italicized), the title of the journal in italics, the volume number in italics, the issue number in parentheses (if applicable), and the page range of the article. For online sources, include the DOI (Digital Object Identifier) or the URL at the end of the reference. An example reference list is as follows:

Step 1: Research Analysis

Complete the table below

Topic of Interest:
Research Article: Include full citation in APA format, as well as link or search details (such as DOI) Gibson, C., Goeman, D., & Pond, D. (2020). What is the role of the practice nurse in the care of people living with dementia, or cognitive impairment, and their support person(s)?: a systematic review. BMC Family Practice, 21(1). https://doi.org/10.1186/s12875-020-01177-y
Professional Practice Use: One or more professional practice uses of the theories/concepts presented in the article This article provides key information to assist the nursing staff in providing great care to dementia patients. The potential value of expanding the Nurse position to include dementia recognition and management has been recognized.  Nurses are well-positioned to give comprehensive dementia information and support, empowering people living with dementia to self-manage their health and live well with dementia.
Research Analysis Matrix Add more rows if necessary Strengths of the Research Limitations of the Research Relevancy to Topic of Interest Notes
Large number of articles were reviewed to collect the data.  The article focuses on practice nurses. The article demonstrates the necessity of helping dementia patients live a quality life. As nursing practitioners, we can alleviate suffering and help dementia patients live better lives.
Electronic databases and Google Scholar were searched for review articles. There were no specifications on the types of dementia and their specific management. The issue of dementia and cognitive impairment is a growing concern with an aging population. Nurses as primary providers need knowledge on how to take care of patients experiencing cognitive impairment with growth in the population of old people.
Articles spanning 19 years have been used to improve the reliability of the information.  Most of the articles analyzed do not give the causal relationship between aging and the development of dementia. The article illustrates the importance of treating the elderly as a vulnerable population. Elaborating the role nurses can play in picking and management of cognitive impairment has the ability to improve the quality of care for elderly patients.
The article applies evidence-based intervention, which improves its validity.  The authors assert the need for further research to understand dementia on a grand scale. The article is relevant to the topic of interest since it also shows the limitations of the research.

Step 2: Summary of Analysis

Craft a summary (2-3 paragraph) below that includes the following:

  • Describe your approach to identifying and analyzing peer-reviewed research
  • Identify at least two strategies that you would use that you found to be effective in finding peer-reviewed research
  • Identify at least one resource you intend to use in the future to find peer-reviewed research

Identification and analysis of peer-reviewed research articles necessitate using an effective method and applying databases and search terms to locate relevant research sources. I started by going through the university library’s databases and publications in this situation. PubMed from the National Library of Medicine, CINHAL Comprehensive, and Web of Science were among them. I also concentrated on papers about Alzheimer’s disease and cognitive impairment. The last step was to narrow my research findings using key terms and words such as “Alzheimer’s and dementia.”

After reading the abstract and full-text articles, I assessed the significance of the paper’s content. I also ensured that the publications I obtained were full-text articles to acquire all possible information, particularly the study’s limitations. The article was then assessed based on its relevance to the topic of interest. I also ensured that the articles were published within the last five years.

In research analysis, having successful strategies is critical. In this example, the aim was to have journal articles published by well-known and recognized institutions and researchers to increase their reputation and trustworthiness. Ensuring that the articles are listed in an online database like PubMed, overseen by the National Library of Medicine, was a vital element of the study. In the search, I also utilized keywords and concepts to find research publications and studies with relevant material on the topic of interest.

PubMed, particularly its online database, is a fantastic resource I plan to use to obtain peer-reviewed research study publications. This resource, managed by the National Library of Medicine, contains many peer-reviewed and full-text papers to help create enough information on their research topic and interest. Obtaining peer-reviewed research on any topic requires entering keywords relating to the issue into the database and filtering the results using the phrase “peer-reviewed.”

In every case, research analysis is a critical component of obtaining materials that address issues of interest to researchers. In this situation, the selected article demonstrates how nurses play an important role in assisting elderly patients with dementia and cognitive impairment. This study’s findings are reliable and valid, and they encourage practitioners to handle the issue in the most effective way possible to lessen the negative consequences of cognitive impairment on the elderly. More research can be conducted to improve the care given to older individuals.

NURS 6003 Academic Success and Professional Development Plan Part 3: Research Analysis Instructions

Architect Daniel Libeskind is credited with saying “To provide meaningful architecture is not to parody history, but to articulate it.” The suggestion is that his work does not copy the efforts of others but relies on it.

Understanding the work of others is critically important to new work. Contributions to the nursing body of knowledge can happen when you are able to analyze and articulate the efforts of previous research. Research analysis skills are therefore critical tools for your toolbox.

In this Assignment, you will locate relevant existing research. You also will analyze this research using a tool helpful for analysis.

Strengths of the Research Limitations of the Research Relevancy to Topic of Interest Notes

The study was focused on the topic of interest.

Utilization of articles that involved small samples in their research. To determine if the article was relevant to my work, I read it in its entirety. The article is relevant to my topic of interest as it provides relevant ideas based on my chosen topic. A focused topic ensures that my research does not deviate from the main idea created previously.

However, the utilization of small samples may not provide ideal results (Gundumogula, 2020).

Utilization of a diverse and rich vocabulary in their research.

Increased risks of bias. Both authors are highly educated professionals in the field of mental health, which is also where I excel. I felt confident using this article as a reference because of its current year of publication; 2020. Evidence of freshness and timeliness is provided by the book’s publishing year. The article was found to be suitable for research use because its methodology was shown to be peer-reviewed for the initial research question.

Logical arrangement of ideas that makes understanding easier.

Increased incidences of selective reporting of outcomes. The article was relevant to my study because of the utilization of various sources to provide the linkage between the digital era and mental health among adolescents. The logical arrangement of ideas enhances the proper understanding of the concepts.

Selective reporting may leave out useful data.

The article focuses on adolescent mental health, which is my topic of interest. A good focus on the specific topic helps to collect useful data.
High levels of creativity are incorporated in the analysis of article content. Creative thinking, on the other hand, can help researchers reconstruct and solve issues through discoveries that often come from unexpected areas, despite the importance of the aforementioned cognitive talents (Johnson et al., 2020).
The article clearly illustrated the issue of the digital era and the occurrence of mental health. When making a request, making an observation, asking a question, making a remark, or answering a query, it is crucial that the message is clear so that the intended recipient fully grasps it. Additionally, writing that is easy to understand is more persuasive.
The article had a better understanding of the audience, which included healthcare professionals dealing with mental health issues. Identifying the right audience allows for the easy dissemination of research findings in an appropriate manner.
Reasons for recommending the article.

There are many good reasons why you can trust this particular article. The knowledge it provides is current and accurate, covering all aspects of mental health among adolescents in the digital era. In addition, the article’s writers are reputable scholars who have contributed to a wide range of scholarly publications. The authors have advanced qualifications in mental health and psychological science (Odgers & Jensen, 2020). These caveats strengthen the article’s overall reliability. It also includes important references, proving that it adheres to academic honesty. Facts are used to back up claims made in the article. The writers intend to convey information regarding the impact of digital evolution and the occurrence of adolescent mental health.

Step 2: Summary of Analysis

Craft a summary (2-3 paragraphs) below that includes the following:

  • Describe your approach to identifying and analyzing peer-reviewed research
  • Identify at least two strategies that you would use that you found to be effective in finding peer-reviewed research
  • Identify at least one resource you intend to use in the future to find peer-reviewed research

In order to further my education and career, I want to use a number of strategies for discovering and evaluating scholarly literature. The first thing I would do is check the authorship of the cited study to determine if it was done by a reputable academic scholar. I would analyze the book for its structure, writing style, and core ideas. The publication type and credibility will be determined by my review of the research findings and their sources (Aguinis et al., 2021). This adjustment will help me in my academic and professional endeavors by facilitating proper identification and analysis of the study.

One efficient method for locating studies that have been examined by experts is to search databases. Large amounts of information that are regularly updated can be found in a database. I would utilize this method to locate peer-reviewed studies because it is efficient and straightforward. The second winning tactic is to use what one already knows. Doing effective and accurate peer-reviewed research is simpler when one makes use of knowledge that one currently possesses (Aguinis et al., 2021). Also, it simplifies determining which studies may be relied upon to provide accurate information.

When I look for scholarly articles in the future, I plan to look through this database first. The database resource has been upgraded so that it now only contains current and relevant sources, which is the purpose of the upgrade (Aguinis et al., 2021). The database also contains research that has been reviewed by other academics and found to be published in an honest and ethical manner by those reviewers. In the future, while I am working on bettering myself both in the classroom and the workplace, I intend to use this reference.
