The primary objective is to measure the change in anxiety levels experienced by adult psychiatric patients after participating in an 8-10-week MBSR program. The primary data collection tool to evaluate the effects of the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program on anxiety levels in adult psychiatric patients will be the Generalized Anxiety Disorder 7 (GAD-7) scale. It has been chosen because of the GAD-7’s proven validity and reliability in identifying and grading the severity of generalized anxiety disorders (Lee & Kim, 2019; Sapra et al., 2020). This seven-item scale provides a numerical assessment of the intensity of anxiety. Each question is scored on a range from 0 to 3.
